As organizers of the Logicom Cyprus Marathon, we assume our responsibility to be kinder to our environment and have decided to act to reduce our carbon footprint. It’s critical to take care of our home, the planet Earth.
We are committed through our actions and initiatives to inspire all runners to take positive action against climate change. This is why we have launched our most impactful initiative yet: “You Run, We Plant.” Along this initiative, we have the utmost support of ADSTERRA – global advertising and CPA affiliate network with a unique Partner Care approach, who not only have attended the first tree planting collectively but also assisted in financing the project. This goes to show their eagerness to play a positive role in the local community. “Adsterra is proud to sponsor the movement to make Cyprus a more beautiful and green place for future generations. We believe it is important to leave a lasting legacy and positively impact the area we work and live. We look forward to continuing to partner with you to build a brighter future for Cyprus” – Sofia Popovidou, marketing event manager.
The location where the tree planting took place is Kouklia Village, which is the host location of the Marathon Start and where the Logicom Cyprus Marathon runners have ran the first 8 kilometers. The role of the Kouklia Community Council was also vital since they have dedicated a location where a park of more than 10,000 trees and bushes will be planted in the next few years. The Community Council President Mr. Michalakis Nikolaou has shown his appreciation to the sponsor by presenting them with an appreciation plaque for their support of the whole initiative. The local community has taken the responsibility to continuously water the plants and continue developing the park further.
Well done to all the runners who have completed the Logicom Cyprus Marathon in March 2023, therefore, having a tree planted on their behalf at the local community. We are looking forward to having more runners completing the Marathon distance and we commit to planting many more trees on their behalf!
This initiative would not have been possible without the support of the volunteering groups “100,000 trees in Pafos” and “City Friends Club”.
